An American Soldier

The most impacting picture to me was the one were they were in training and a soldier carrying another soldier over his shoulder, as a true soldier would do in war.
I think the most powerful sequence of photos was the basic training one because when i see the order of photos I see how they had good times and hard times and getting a feel for what they're duties will be. Shows how much of their part they'll have to put in and the courage they'll have to have of this life decision.
Pictures work together to tell a story by the different emotions you see from the different times you take the pictures. Its those special moments you have to capture.

The photos in which Ian is the main subject, the captions describe what's going on in the present tense. Captions enhance the photographs by helping tell the story with specific details so that you know what exactly is going on.

Jim is an ex pot smoker that recently left weed because he finally has a career that requires him to be a very healthy person but since he constantly needs to be smoking and doesn't like tobacco, he discovered the HOOKAH! And all the different flavors of sheeshah that is much healthier to smoke. Since Jim was such a big pothead starting with his teenaged days he has been hooked on it ever since and it is why he's now crazy for HOOKAH!
Becky is a high fashion journalist in New York that has to constantly move from place to place for work ideas and as winter approaches it starts to rain constantly, so because she must always be presentable she must keep dry. She had discovered this new trend of fully protective umbrellas through some designer where she worked for and ever since only exclusive people have these.

Trevor is a kid from the neighborhood that lives for basketball because ever since he was little he couldn't get enough of it and is the biggest yet littlest Laker fan yet. He lives in the projects so his mom would always tell him that she didn't have the money to provide him a decent place where he could practice his love for basketball, so he would instead improvise with objects around him to be able to play games against other kids from the neighborhood.

I thought the video was great. I liked how band music was used all throughout it and how it featured all the different performers. I would want to see featured all the events thrown here at Akins such as Blue and Gold night, basketball games, Diamonds contest routines, prom and mostly experiences that seniors have had. I feel that its important to have just one video of seniors so that were able to take memories with us as most of us of high school as most of us will be purchasing yearbooks. I think this video could have been improved by putting another band song in the background, not just one, and show what people have to say and show faces of the students.

Our Future Class Assignment

A theme we could possibly use to take pictures here at school could be black and white, face portraits of students or teachers we admire. I think we should shoot with our phones even though maybe not every person will have camera phones, but if you create groups and make sure at least one person does, we could all share. That way if you have the instagram app on your phone it would be easier to upload and share your phone with the others in the group as well. Then the mural in which all these portraits are placed could be at the front of the school right when you walk in through the doors. A mural of all the different faces will tell new people that come in through those doors what special people it's made up of.

HDR Photography

Fixed Photo shoot- Post shoot reflection

What I learned about the camera while shooting manually is how you can control how the image will look and how the camera works when it's in automatic. You learn how the light takes part while you're shooting and where it has to be programed so that it's a clear picture.

All the photos taken were consistently too bright to clear and then too dark no matter what Fstop they were in or ISO. It was a pattern and in each ISO and different Fstop there was a certain shutter speed in which the picture was perfect and clear.

You can tell from the different ISO's because at the different shutter speeds when they were either dark or light that when they were too bright the whole picture was white and when it was too dark the whole picture was light; that was when the ISO was higher. When it was lower and the shutter speed made it to bright or too dark you could still see what was in the picture.

Great Black and White photographers part III

When I first looked at Cunningham's photography it caught my attention because they were all in black and white. They all looked vintage-like and I loved how the subject/s of the photograph were simple and direct and took up all the space. They all seemed like they had emotion and were elegant.

I see...black and white. All mixed emotions and interesting people. I see a different aspect towards the woman's body and a different way of art. I see the contrast between the youth and elderly.

I smell... the nature and aroma of the outside as the background. The sweet perfume of the all the women posing for the camera and the tender smell of an old woman and her clothes. The smell of the  trees swaying through the wind.

I hear... the raspy yet sweet voices of older women. I hear the smooth clear voice of a young liberated woman. I hear these women telling me about past memories as why they're being photographed.

I taste... the outside, the water, flowers, trees and the leaves. I taste the breath upon my nose of these women's breath as they try to stand still for the photograph. I get a taste from all the different stories of these women's past and what makes them so interesting to my photography.

I feel... the wrinkles upon the old woman's face as I touch her hand and direct her where to stand. I feel the elaborate clothing made from good fabrics of the elegant woman. I feel the hard and rough bark that the naked woman must stand by for the photograph.

In order to show more of Imogen Cunningham's photography I would create a blog just for her work and express in detail what delight the photograph brings to me so that others can too express their opinions about them. Also power points to show the different people and subjects she decides to have in her photography.

Shutter Speed

High shutter speed

Slow shutter speed

Shooting at Blue and Gold night while the sun is still up due to the exposure of light it would have to be set at high shutter speed. You would need a high shutter speed at the dunk booth in order to capture that fast motion right when they're being dunked. At the food eating contest you have to be able to capture the fast motion of the people trying to eat all they can eat as fast as they can. At the rock climbing wall you will need to capture each of their steps and be ready to capture if they fall. To be able to take a good picture of a person working on a booth you have to have the right light. At the dj booth you have to have the right light and keep it in focus for when they are speaking on the microphone. At the Diamond performance it has to have fast shutter speed to capture all the dance moves in focus.
In the dark there needs to be a slow shutter speed because of little light.
